As per the Pa Catholic Conference and/or the Archdiocese,

    • Oppose HB 300 / SB 300 (As the Pa Catholic Conference explains, “In other states, this law has shuttered Catholic adoption agencies and trampled religious liberty….Simply put, this legislation is intolerant and prejudiced against people of faith.")
    • Oppose the nomination of Pedro Cortes: "Please call and email your state Senators with this message, 'I urge you to vote against the appointment of Pedro Cortes to serve as Pennsylvania Secretary of State. He failed to stop abortionist Kermit Gosnell by failing to shut down his dangerous abortion operation.'"

    3/28/15 Update

As per the USCCB*, the Pa Catholic Conference, and/or the Archdiocese

    • Oppose the Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act and so-called Human Rights Amendment Act; "Our help is needed to stop two dangerous pieces of legislation recently passed by the Council of the District of Columbia and signed by the mayor. These acts, RHNDA and HRAA, are subject to disapproval by Congress.  On March 6, 2015 the DC government forwarded these laws to Congress, which has 30 legislative days to pass resolutions of disapproval; after this time other avenues might be able to block the laws' implementation. These laws 'violate the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of association protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution, as well as by the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and other federal laws,' according to letters sent to House and Senate on March 20 by the Archbishop of Washington along with the chairmen of five committees of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops": https://www.votervoice.net/NCHLA/Campaigns/39587/Respond

"Let my tongue be silenced, if I ever forget you!"

      • Ads from Providers of Contraceptives and Abortifacients in Parish Bulletins: Across the country, it is the rare pharmacy which does NOT sell abortifacients and contraceptives. In the Bucks County / Jersey are, the St Clare Pharmacy is the only pharmacy believed to NOT sell abortifacients and contraceptives.  Hence, it boggles the mind that
OLA (Trenton) is advertising Vizzoni's and Episcopo's,
        OLS/St.Anthony's (Trenton) is advertising Episcopo's and Risoldi's,
St.Ann's (Lawrenceville) is advertising McGrath's and Penlar, and
St. Charles Borromeo (Bensalem) is advertising Riccio's!
Seeing abonimations in parish bulletins is all the more appalling, when you consider shopkeepers who have been forced out of business, because of refusal to compromise their consciences!  Please send an email to the pastors.
      • "Catholic" Hospitals: As per our Holy Father emeritus: ''The diocesan Bishop is obliged, if necessary, to make known to the faithful the fact that the activity of a particular charitable agency is no longer being carried out in conformity with the Church's teaching, and then to prohibit that agency from using the name 'Catholic' and to take the necessary measures should personal responsibilities emerge'' (Apostolic Letter Issued 'Motu Proprio' of the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XVI on the Services of Charity).  It's straightforward Truth in Advertising: If a hospital does not act Catholic, it should NOT be called "Catholic.'  Email Archbishop Chaput

      • SB 549: OPPOSE this state legislation.  As per the Pa Pro Life Federation, "Please contact the pro-life members of the Senate Judiciary Committee with this urgent message:  'I urge you to oppose Senate Bill 549, the assisted suicide bill. The legislation would hurt people with disabilities and the frail elderly.'  Here is the contact information for the pro-life members of the Senate Judiciary Committee:

      Senator John Rafferty: jrafferty@pasen.gov (717) 787-1398
      Senator Joseph Scarnati: jscarnati@pasen.gov (717) 787-7084
      Senator Richard Alloway: alloway@pasen.gov
      Senator John Eichelberger: jeichelberger@pasen.gov (717) 787-5490
      Senator John Gordner:

      Senator Randy Vulakovich: rvulakovich@pasen.gov (717) 787-6538
      Senator Gene Yaw: gyaw@pasen.gov (717) 787-3280
Also please contact the Judiciary Committee Chair, Senator Stewart Greenleaf: sgreenleaf@pasen.gov (717) 787-6599."

      • March for Marriage: "We are now just six weeks away from one of the most important events in our cause to preserve marriage — the 2015 March for Marriage taking place on April 25th in Washington, DC.  The importance of this march cannot be overstated — it is our last, best hope to show the justices of the US Supreme Court that the American people demand that their views, values and votes be respected and that marriage be preserved!....Three days after the justices of the Supreme Court see the outpouring of support for marriage, they will hear oral argument in the case that could shape the legal definition of marriage in America for years to come.
"In the weeks ahead, I will be sending you more specifics on ways you can participate and support the march — either in person or online through the Virtual March for Marriage.  Watch for updates on www.marriagemarch.org coming soon.....Cognizant of the inherent threats to religious freedom that redefining marriage presents, Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY) have introduced the 2015 Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act in the US House and Senate."  If the Archdiocese does not organize buses to the March (Keep an eye on www.phillycatholiclife.org.), Amtrak can take you from Trenton to DC's Union Station in 2.5 hours (about $52, each way).
      • "This year – the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Women’s Conference – thousands of delegates and civil society representatives are gathered in New York to assess 20 years of progress on women’s issues.  Rather than haggle late into the nights as is done each year at the UN Commission on the Status of Women, countries adopted a political declaration on the first day of the two-week conference. It makes no mention of sexual and reproductive health or rights, terms linked to abortion and sexual issues" (C-Fam, 3/13/15)
      •  As per the American Life League, "Please sign the petition asking Cardinal Dolan to step down as Grand Marshall" of NYC's March 17th Parade (In Cardinal O'Connor's time, that parade could have rightly been called St. Patrick's!).

Is Moral Cowardice the "Reward" (i.e., Result) of Failure to Obey God's Law?

      • Leviticus 26 assures us of blessings, "If you live in accordance with my statutes and are careful to observe my commandments."  Yet, it also describes a pathetic lack of fortitude resulting from disobedience: "You will flee though no one pursues you....Those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies, I will make so fainthearted that the sound of a driven leaf will pursue them, and they shall run as if from the sword, and fall though no one pursues them; stumbling over one another as if to escape a sword, while no one is after them—so helpless will you be to take a stand against your foes! You shall perish among the nations, swallowed up in your enemies’ country. Those of you who survive will waste away in the lands of their enemies, for their own and their ancestors’ guilt."
