Re: Sen McIlhinney - No Time for Constituents?

Several years ago, I met with Senator McIlhinney in his Harrisburg office and was taken aback to see a Masonic symbol prominently displayed.

It is more than a quarter century, since the Vatican confirmed that Masonic membership is absolutely inconsistent with being Catholic, reminding us that "The faithful who enrol in Masonic associations are in a state of grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion. It is not within the competence of local ecclesiastical authorities to give a judgment on the nature of Masonic associations which would imply a derogation from what has been decided above"

Does Senator McIlhinney fully comprehend that Masonic membership, and espousing positions antithetical to Catholic teaching on human life and marriage/family, are absolutely inconsistent with being Catholic? It is my opinion that clarifications on such matters should regularly appear in parish bulletins. It would certainly NOT be pastoral - either to Senator McIlhinney or to other Catholics - to disregard Canon 1364 and Canon 915. Eternal Salvation is no light matter!
