Holy Father, we need you to DEFEND marriage/family!
- Today's National Catholic Register quotes Pope Francis: “Homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family. They’re children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out, or be made miserable because of it." Of course not! Unfortunately Francis seemed to use that for a straw dog argument, seemingly overlooking the importance of marriage for protecting children's rights to their mother and father: As per the Catechism:
Probably not even envisioning the assaults on marriage that we have seen, any earlier Holy Father said this: "If any confessor or pastor of souls, which may God forbid, lead the faithful entrusted to him into these errors or should at least confirm them by approval or by guilty silence, let him be mindful of the fact that he must render a strict account to God, the Supreme Judge, for the betrayal of his sacred trust" (Pope Pius XI, 1930). "Clericalism" that fails to appreciate marriage/family is seen to be alive and well, as the "usual suspects" are thrilled by Francis' confusing words:
- Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine rolls off production line amid hopes for emergency approval (NY Post, 10/18/2020)
- Sorry Archbishop Perez, but Pa Catholic Conference materials (1, 2) fail to speak with clarity on the preeminence of the sanctity of human life, the sanctity of marriage, and religious freedom.
- Some may argue that Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick comes closer to Catholic teaching than challenger Christine Finello. If that be the case, it is incumbent on those making that argument to DEMAND MUCH BETTER from him. (cf, 7/7/2020)
