The elections have passed, and now it's time for our elected officials to step up to the plate. There are at least five pieces of proposed pro life legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives:
- H.R. 3, No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act
- HR 217, Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act would end the receipt of "Family Planning" funds by abortion providers.
- H.R. 358, Protect Life Act
- H.R. 361, Abortion Non-Discrimination Act (to provide conscience protection for health care workers)
- H.R. 374, Life at Conception Act would specify that "The terms `human person' and `human being' include each and every member of the species homo sapiens at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being."
Two of these bills have senate versions, but neither has received co-sponsorship from our two U.S. Senators. Please contact the offices of Senator Robert Casey ( sharon.lynett@gmail.com) & Senator Patrick Toomey, urging co-sponsorship and support of
In the Pennsylvania Senate, Senate Bill 3. As per the Pennsylvania Family Institute, “The bill would respect the conscience and respect for life of millions of Pennsylvanians, and ensure that their tax dollars do not subsidize abortion coverage through the back door of the new state insurance exchanges.” Kudos to Senator Greenleaf for supporting Senate Bill 3 in the Banking and Insurance Committee. Please thank Senator Greenleaf and urge Senators Tomlinson, Mensch, and McIlhinney to support S.91 and S. 165. As a Catholic but someone with very favorable "Pro Choice" ratings from Planned Parenthood, McIlhinney is likely to need the most encouragement to vote in line with the truth about human life.
