March for Life

  • As per a 1/23/20 email from the ProLife Coalition of Pa, "All of the Republican U.S. House Members from Pa., except Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, have compiled a 100% pro-life voting records.  To their great credit, they recently joined an amicus brief that urges the SCOTUS to reverse Roe.  Rep. Fitzpatrick has a majority pro-life record but did not join this amicus brief.  Far worse, Rep. Fitzpatrick...[is a co sponsor of the misleadingly named] 'Equality Act' (EA).  This vicious piece of anti-life legislation would re-write U.S. Civil Rights laws, such that any abortion ban restrictions or funding limit would become an act of 'sex discrimination.'  Thus, the passage of the EA would overturn all state and federal pro-life laws, even if Roe were to be reversed and legal protection provided to children in the womb....

"Sen. Pat Toomey has compiled a 100% pro-life voting record and has joined the amicus brief calling for the reversal of Roe.  However..., Sen. Toomey has declined to oppose the EA....

"Except for his support for Sen. Lindsey Graham's post 20-week abortion ban, Sen. Robert Casey, Jr. has a 100% pro-abortion voting record"
  • Soon, "the high court’s justices will begin their review of a Louisiana abortion law that could signal a major turning point in the long movement against abortion...More than 200 pro-life members of Congress.... called on the Supreme Court to reconsider both Roe v. Wade and the subsequent 1992 decision Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which created the ambiguous 'undue burden' standard [Thougb they self-identify as "pro life," neither Senator Casey nor Rep Fitzpatrick signed that pro life amicus brief.]....we must dig in and stand the ground on this most pressing and preeminent cause of our time" (National Catholic Register, 1/22/20

Sunday of the Word of God (1/26/20)

"This coming 26 January the Sunday of the Word of God will be celebrated for the first time....As with the other initiatives of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, this one too has recourse to a characteristic logo, so that it may be taken as a space for catechesis that helps to understand the meaning of the celebration of this Sunday. As can be seen, a well-known biblical scene is represented: the journey of the disciples to the village of Emmaus (cf. Lk 24: 13-35) " (Vatican, 1/17/20

Moms and Dads

(Seen on a PATH train, 1/17/20)
It just isn't true that two moms or two dads are the same as a mom and dad....
"Children are wired for daily, ongoing connectivity with their mother and father and they are most likely to receive it when their parents are married. Marriage offers the most stability in a child’s home and the best chance that both parents will be permanently involved in their lives....

"Being raised in the home of their married mother and father gives children a biological connection with both parents who are, statistically, the people most likely to protect, provide for, and be permanently attached to their kids. It also gives children direct access to their heritage, genetic information, and generations of extended family. Biological connection is a foundational component of a child’s identity. Children also need dual-gender influence....Because of the stability, biological connection and male/female influence that marriage provides, children raised by their married parents are drastically less likely to live in poverty, become teen parents, have problems with the law, use drugs, be physically or sexually abused, and drop out of school. Research reveals that the place where kids are most likely to be “safe and loved” is in the home of their married mother and father. For children, that’s the the true “safe-space”.

"Them Before Us believes that adults should sacrifice their desires in order to protect children’s needs."

The Untold Tragedy of "Egg Donation"

"I am an 18-year-old female and I was conceived using an egg donor....I can not put into words the pain of not knowing who my biological mother is and not being able to have/have had a relationship with her....

"I’m afraid of marrying and having kids with a man I’m related to. I don’t think that’s likely, but still, I believe it’s a valid concern....

"As a donor conceived child, there are so many things I simply don’t get to know....

"Please adopt, at least those kids are already in existence, don’t go out of your way to create a child. Or just don’t have kids at all. No one should have to spend hours on hours feeling alone and wondering about half of their biological family. I wouldn’t wish this pain and wondering on ANYONE" (Anonymous Us, 5/27/19)
(Seen on a PATH train, 1/17/20)

With an attractive, savvy, and deceptive ad campaign, unprincipled individuals exploit young women physically, psychologically and spiritually.... As per the web site for Eggsploitation,
"The infertility industry in the United States has grown to a multi-billion dollar business. What is its main commodity? Human eggs. Young women all over the world are solicited by ads—via college campus bulletin boards, social media, online classifieds—offering up to $100,000 for their 'donated' eggs, to 'help make someone’s dream come true.' But who is this egg donor? Is she treated justly? What are the short- and long-term risks to her health? The answers to these questions will disturb you . . .

Produced by The Center for Bioethics and Culture (Lines That Divide, 2009), Eggsploitation spotlights the booming business of human eggs told through the tragic and revealing stories of real women who became involved and whose lives have been changed forever."
