Defunding Planned Parenthood and Standing Up for Religious Liberty
If you REALLY want to stop Planned Parenthood on a federal level, simply complaining about Bob Casey - however justified that may be - will NOT get the job done. "Pro life" politicians must stop voting for such federal mechanisms as "continuing resolutions" that fund Planned Parenthood:
"Eighteen House conservatives told GOP leaders...that
they will not support any measure to fund the government if it
continues to fund Planned Parenthood....The letter was signed by Reps.
Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), John Fleming (R-La.), Raúl
Labrador (R-Idaho), Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.) Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.), Jeff
Duncan (R-S.C.) Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), Walter Jones
(R-N.C.), Curt Clawson (R-Fla.), Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.), Keith
Rothfus (R-Pa.), Randy Weber (R-Texas), Scott Perry (R-N.J.), Steven
Pearce (R-N.M.), Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas)" (Rebecca Shabad, The Hill, 7/29/15).
Click to Email Representative Fitzpatrick and Senator Toomey's legislative director, asking whether they will stand with Representative Keith Rothfus.
"Governor Tom Wolf told listeners of KQV-AM radio in Pittsburgh last week that he will take steps
to reaffirm that human fetal tissue is not being sold commercially in
Pennsylvania....Advocates must strongly urge elected officials in
Harrisburg and Washington, DC, to take these investigations seriously" (Pennsylvania Catholic Conference, 7/27/15).
Click to Email all of Bucks County's representatives and senators in Harrisburg, asking for a moratorium on all state funding of Planned Parenthood.
You
can find "alerts" about specific federal legislation advocated by the
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) at "ALERTS CENTRAL" (http://cqrcengage.com/catholicbishops/action). The USCCB notes that "Action alerts for pro-life issues can also be found through our partner organization, the "National Committee for the Human Life Amendment" (NCHLA) [http://www.nchla.org/action.asp], and that "Action alerts for issues related to immigration reform can be found through the USCCB-led Catholic coalition, "Justice for Immigrants" [http://www.capwiz.com/justiceforimmigrants/issues/alert/?alertid=14503781&type=CO].
