"I, the LORD, have called you for justice, I have grasped you by the hand; I formed you, and set you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations" (Isaiah 42:6)

"The US Supreme Court decision in Obergefell was anti-constitutional and illegitimate. They invented a right to same-sex 'marriage' out of thin air. There is nothing in our nation's laws, history or constitution that requires states to redefine marriage. The Supreme Court does not have the power to force the other branches of government to act, nor do they have the power to create positive law....

"when the Court issues an obviously erroneous ruling — as they did in Dred Scott, Buck and now in Obergefell — the other branches of government and the states must determine how to respond.

"Over 70 prominent legal scholars have examined the issues in the Obergefell ruling and they have advised states to continue to uphold their state laws and state constitutional provisions regarding marriage....

"[In Alabama] Chief Justice Moore has suspended the issuing of same-sex marriage licenses in order for the state Supreme Court to decide for itself how to react to the Obergefell ruling....

"The US Supreme Court did not settle the issue of marriage. This decision remains up to the people of America, acting through their elected officials"
(Brian Brown, National Organization for Marriage, 1/7/15)."

With regard to specific pro marriage/pro family legislation, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is encouraging support for the
(1) the "State Marriage Defense Act of 2015" (HR 824 / S 435),

(2) the "First Amendment Defense Act" (HR 2802 / S 1598), and the

(3) the "Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act of 2015 (CWPIA)" (HR 1299 / S 667)
With regard to specific pro life legislation, the USCCB advises us to

(4) "Urge House Support for Women's Public Health and Safety Act (HR 3495)."
The USCCB explains that "Action alerts for pro-life issues can also be found through our partner organization, the National Committee for the Human Life Amendment."  The NCHLA is calling on our U.S. Senators to
(5) "Please Support the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act!" (i.e., HR 7 has already passed the House.).

Other than for Representative Joe Pitts and Keith Rothfus, the Pa Delegation to the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate has - at best - a glaringly inconsistent, when it comes to supporting these five pieces of legislation (This is most glaringly obvious among those who identify themselves as our fellow Catholics.).
  • Click to Email Pa's Congressional Delegation in D.C, asking for Co-Sponsorship/Support of the pro life and pro marriage/family legislation backed by the USCCB and/or the NCHLA.

Pennsylvania Catholic Conference (selected links)
  1. "Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression and Religious Liberty" (OPPOSE HB 1510 / SB 974, as it "is intolerant and prejudiced against people of faith.")
  2. "Respect All Parties in Adoption" (OPPOSE HB 162).
  3. "Use Tax Dollars for Life Not Death" ("include the language of House Bill 1623 in the Fiscal Code")
The Bucks County delegation could - at best - be described as giving MINIMALLY aligned to our positions on pro life and pro marriage/family concerns (This is perhaps most painfully obvious among those who identify themselves as our fellow Catholics.).

  • Click to Email all of Bucks County's representatives and senators in Harrisburg, asking them to advocate/vote in a pro life and pro marriage/family manner.
