Subject: Mango for Governor; Upcoming Pro-Life Legislation

Dear Pro-Life Friends:

Summary

On February 15, 2018, the leaders of our organization endorsed Paul Mango for Pa. Governor in the May 15, 2018 Republican Primary Election.  In the remainder of this email, I explain the reasons for this endorsement and I request your support for Paul's campaign, which begins with collecting signatures on Paul's nominating petition.

Why Support Paul Mango?

Both major remaining candidates in the May 15, 2018 Republican Primary Election, Paul Mango and Scott Wagner, state that they are pro-life and would sign pro-life legislation passed by the Pa. General Assembly.  Either of them deserves the support of the Pa. pro-life movement against pro-abortion Pa. Gov. Tom Wolf in the November 6, 2018 General Election.  However, clear and significant differences exist between Paul Mango and Scott Wagner.

In an attached report, I present a detailed discussion of the reasons for supporting Paul Mango.  In summary, I believe that pro-life citizens in Pa. should provide this support because of

- Mango's commitment to nominate pro-life Cabinet members and other officials;

- Mango's commitment to provide ready access for Pa. pro-life leaders to him and his Administrative officials; and

- Wagner's avid support for the "homosexual/transgender rights" agenda.  Also, and his selection of a pro-abortion Lieutenant Governor (LG) running mate, Jeff Bartos, indicates that the officials in his Administration will not likely be pro-life.

How to Support Paul's Campaign

1. Collect Signatures on Paul's Nominating Petition

I am attaching petition sheets for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties, which can be downloaded and printed.  I am also attaching an instruction sheet for collecting signatures.  If contacted (215-393-3610; paprolifecoalition@gmail.com), I can have petitions delivered to you for any of these counties.  Petitions for other counties in Pa. are available by contacting Lisa Vranicar-Patton at 717-648-3478; lvranicar@mangoforpa.net.  Lisa can also provide a list of registered Republicans voters for any precinct in Pa.

Please have the petitions that you circulate notarized or else all the signatures that you collect will not be valid.

Please return these petitions to me (or your County Collector, whom I can identify) by Friday, March 2, 2018, so they can be filed by the Tuesday, March 6, 2018 deadline.

2. Volunteer to Assist Paul's Campaign in Other Ways

Other pro-life leaders in Pa. and I will be organizing other campaign activities, such as canvassing, phone calls, attending events, literature distribution, lawn signs, Day of Election Activities and others.  You can volunteer by visiting Paul's campaign website at www.mangoforpa.com or contacting me at 215-393-3610; paprolifecoalition@gmail.com

The Lieutenant Governor's Race

Our organization has not made any endorsement - or reached any consensus on whom to support - for the Republican nomination for Pa. LG.

There are currently three strongly pro-life candidates in this race.  In alphabetical order, they are

- Joe Gale - Montgomery County Commissioner;

- Peg Luksik - veteran pro-life activist/educator and former Pa. Governor candidate; and

- Diana Vaughn - Washington County Commissioner, who also is Paul Mango's running mate.

The endorsed candidate for the Republican nomination (and running mate with Scott Wagner) for LG is Montgomery County businessman Jeff Bartos.  He claims to be pro-life.  However, his public record contradicts that claim.

In 2015, he knowingly and publicly supported Planned Parenthood Board Member Scott Zelov for the Republican nomination for Montgomery County Commissioner.  He has also recently contributed to pro-abortion Democrat Party candidates.  Also, his campaign website indicates his support for the "homosexual/transgender rights" agenda.

The leaders of our organization expect to continue discussions as to whether "political viability" considerations will result in an endorsement for one of these three strongly pro-life Republican LG candidates in an effort to defeat Jeff Bartos.

Upcoming Pro-Life Legislation

Pa. House Speaker Mike Turzai, and other leading Pa. pro-life state legislators, have announced that the Pa. House will act, in March 2018, on legislation to ban abortion on children in the womb with a diagnosis of Down Syndrome.  The State of Ohio recently passed such legislation.  Please urge your Pa. House Member to co-sponsor this legislation, which is H.B.2520.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading this e-mail and its attachments.  I look forward to working with you to elect Paul Mango as the next Governor of Pa. and passing H.B.2520!

Best wishes,

Mike McMonagle
