Subject: Sept. 9 Local Gosnell Movie Showing; Other Upcoming Opportunities

Dear Pro-Life Friend:

Thank You and Context

You are receiving this email because of your participation in pro-life activities in Pa.  Thank you for that participation.  I request that you renew your participation in response to this report regarding upcoming activities.

Because of the length of this email, I provide a summary in the next section.  This length occurs because of the many upcoming activities and opportunities concerning efforts to protect the sanctity of all human life in Pa.

This email also explains the goals and rationale for these activities and an overall "State of the Pa. Pro-Life Movement" report.  I also plan to send separate correspondence about each activity closer to its date.

My topics affect all areas of Pa.  However, because I live in Southeast Pa., I provide some additional details on activities in this area.

Topics Discussed

1. Saturday, September 8, 2018 - National Day of Remembrance

2. Sunday, September 9, 2018 - Showing of the movie Gosnell occurs in Malvern, Chester County.  This movie has a nationwide release on October 12, 2018.

3. The Fall 2018 40 Days For Life campaigns launch on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

4. Judge Brett Kavanaugh's Nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court

5. Stand Up For Life Rally occurs in our State Capitol on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM.

6. Report on Current Public Policy Matters in Pa.

a. Passing H.B.2050, the Down Syndrome Abortion Ban

b. Setting Post-Roe v. Wade expectations

c. Exposing the Pa. abortion industry's cover-up of the sexual abuse of minors, as well as the hypocrisy - or timidity - of Pa. public officials regarding this cover-up.

7. Impact and Analyses of the Current Crises in the Catholic Church

8. Efforts for the November 6, 2018 General Election

The following is a discussion of these topics.

1. Saturday, September 8, 2018 - National Day of Remembrance

This Day reminds us, the Church and our Culture that abortion has produced - and continues to produce - millions of dead victims for which God holds all of us accountable.  The website www.AbortionMemorials.com lists where observances are occurring across Pa.

In Southeast Pa., there is a 12:00 noon Mass at St. John Fisher, 4225 Chichester Avenue, Boothwyn, Delaware County followed by an observance at nearby IHM cemetery, where the bodies of abortion victims are buried, who were recovered from the Women's Health Organization abortion chamber in Stanton, Delaware in 1985.  This recovery led to NOW's initial RICO lawsuit against the Pro-Life Action League, Joe Scheidler and many Pa. pro-life activists.

2. Sunday, September 9, 2018 - Showing of the movie Gosnell occurs in Malvern Chester County.  This movie has a nationwide release on October 12, 2018.

Ann McElhinney's and Phelim McAleer's book, Gosnell: America's Most Prolific Serial Killer, provides the basis for this movie.  Prominent Hollywood actor, Dean Cain, plays the hero of this story, Philadelphia Narcotics Detective James Woods.  www.GosnellMovie.com provides a trailer for this movie.

This movie receives a national release in 100 theaters on October 12, 2018.  In Pa., these theaters are AMC Allentown 16; AMC Selinsgrove 12; AMC Westmoreland 15 (in Greensburg); AMC Neshaminy 24 (in Bensalem); and AMC Waterfront 22 (in Homestead).

An initial showing of this movie in Southeast Pa., followed by a brief presentation from Anne, occurs on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the Arts Building at Malvern Preparatory School at 418 South Warren Avenue, (directly across from the Malvern Retreat House) Malvern, PA 19355.

This showing can provide timely and extensive assistance to our upcoming public policy and election efforts in Pa.  There is no registration or fee required to attend.  Please respond generously to the free-will offering that will occur.

3. The Fall 2018 40 Days For Life campaigns launch on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

These campaigns save lives, recruit new participants into the pro-life movement and provide some reparation for the unspeakable crime of abortion and the Church's vast apathy toward that crime.

The webpage, www.40DaysForLife.com/browse-campaigns lists all the 40 Days campaigns occurring across Pa.  A candlelight prayer vigil at Planned Parenthood (PP)'s center-city Philadelphia abortion chamber occurs on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 6:30 PM at 12th and Locust Streets.

Abortionists commit 1/3 of Pa.'s approximately 30,000 annual abortions at the two center-city Philadelphia abortion chambers (ACs), PP and the "Philadelphia Women's Center."  Although 40 Days campaigns launched nationwide in Pa. in 2007, 40 Days campaigns did not occur at these two ACs until 2014.  They began because of the leadership, sacrifices and zeal of Monique Ruberu, M.D. and Patrick Stanton.  Since these 40 Days campaigns began, followed by an ongoing Sidewalk Servants Program, abortions have decreased at these two ACs by approximately 2,000 annually.

Dr. Monique is the featured speaker at a presentation on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 7:30 PM at Assumption B.V.M. Church in Feasterville, Bucks County.  Dr. Monique's presentation seeks participants in the 40 Days campaigns at PP's ACs in Northeast Philadelphia and in Warminster, Bucks County.  Dr. Monique will also address the holistic and pro-life solutions that she offers to a wide range of women's health concerns at Natural Women's Health at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook.  Please contact me if you would like a promotional flyer for this event.

4. Judge Brett Kavanaugh's Nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court

As he did with Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Trump has fulfilled his most significant pro-life commitment by nominating Judge Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.  Given Judge Kavanaugh's record, writings, and the reaction of the forces of the Culture of Death, he is highly likely to issue pro-life rulings, including reversing Roe v. Wade.

Pa.'s two U.S. Senators have already announced their position regarding Kavanaugh's nomination, i.e., Toomey for and Casey against.  Thus, Pa.'s pro-life movement is unlikely to have an immediate impact on Kavanaugh's confirmation.  Nevertheless, please express your public support for Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation, thank Sen. Toomey and urge Sen. Casey to change his mind.

In long-range terms, since the June 28, 2018 retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy (I am attaching an excellent June 28, 2018 Washington Examiner editorial on the physically, intellectually and spiritually deadly legacy of Justice Kennedy), the forces of the Culture of Death have, in effect, declared war in attempting to stop his confirmation, or next, to mitigate the life-saving impact of this confirmation.  Sad to say, I share the view of some other leaders in the pro-life movement that, in response to this Declaration of War, the forces of the Culture of Life have been seeking a truce.

We should be boldly proclaiming, "We eagerly seek Roe's reversal and the opportunity to protect additional mothers and children from abortion."

5. Please Attend and Promote the 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 9, 2018 Stand Up For Life Rally in Our State Capitol

6. Report on Current Public Policy Matters in Pa.

The desire to make this bold proclamation and to seek two near-term public policy goals, provide the reasons for our organization's scheduling of this Rally.  These public policy goals include passing H.B.2050 in the Pa. Senate, which is the ban on killing children in the womb diagnosed with Down Syndrome.  The Pa. House passed this legislation on April 16, 2018 by a 139-56 vote.

The Pa. Senate leaders have not yet committed to schedule a floor vote on H.B.2050 (which passed the Pa. Senate Judiciary Committee on June 13, 2018 by a 9-5 vote) during the nine remaining Session Days in September-October 2018.  In fact, they (Sens. Jake Corman and Joe Scarnati), as well as leading pro-life Senators, have shown a remarkable lack of zeal for passing this legislation.

They offer two excuses for this lack of zeal.  They claim that the pro-life movement has demonstrated little advocacy for this legislation.  They also claim that the four Republican senators from Southeast Pa., with pro-life records, who are facing re-election on November 6, 2018, "Don't want an 'abortion vote' prior to the election."  This claim is mostly false, as three of these senators have already informed me or other leaders in our organization that they welcome a vote on H.B.2050 and will support H.B.2050.  I am still awaiting a response from the fourth senator.  This Rally serves as a vehicle to increase the Pa. pro-life movement's advocacy for this legislation.

The other near-term public policy goal is to expose and stop the abortion industry's routine cover-up of sexual abuse of minors.  Pa. Officials, such as Gov. Tom Wolf, former Pa. DOH Secretary Karen Murphy and AG Joshua Shapiro, allow this cover-up to continue.

Pa. law makes explicitly clear that pregnancy in a girl 12 and under indicates that she is a victim of rape and pregnancy in a girl 13-15 indicates that she could be a victim of statutory rape.  Thus, abortion facility personnel have a legal obligation (made abundantly clear in the wake of the child abuse reporting laws passed after the 2013 Sandusky Commission recommendations) to report such pregnancies to law enforcement.  However, they routinely - and proudly - refuse to do so.

Under Pa. Act 122, passed in December 2011 in the wake of the exposé of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell, the Pa. DOH has the authority to revoke the license of any AC failing to make these reports.  However, the Pa. DOH (under both Gov. Corbett and Gov. Wolf) have declined to take this enforcement action.

Some other leaders in the Pa. pro-life movement and I have made some extensive efforts to seek the assistance of pro-life legislators.  However, these efforts have only achieved modest success.

I expect to provide additional information on the failures of Pa. officials on this issue prior to our October 9, 2018 event.  We believe that, in the wake of the massive media attention to recent reports exposing the widespread cover-up of the sexual abuse of minors - and some adults - by Catholic clergy, our revelations regarding the failures of Pa. public officials in this area can receive significant media attention.

7. Impact and Analyses of the Current Crises in the Catholic Church

In an attached Commentary, submitted to the Philadelphia Inquirer, I offer my analyses - and solution - to these crises in the Catholic Church.  A summary of my principal points is the following:

a. The root of these crises in the widespread rejection of Church teaching regarding sexual morality and the sanctity of all human life, which began with publicly expressed opposition to Humanae Vitae, issued on July 25, 1968.

b. A direct line connects this rejection with the formation of a homosexual subculture in the Catholic priesthood that is the primary cause for these abuses and their cover-up.

c. The teaching, preaching and acceptance of St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body are the solution to these crises and the entire Culture of Death.

d. These crises can harm the pro-life movement's public policy efforts.  However, as described in the prior section, the focus on these crises provides an opportunity to expose the Pa. abortion industry's routine cover-up of serial assaults on minors.

8. November 6, 2018 General Election Activities

The election of a pro-life Pa. Governor on November 6, 2018 would greatly assist our pro-life public policy efforts in Pa.  Thus, our organization has endorsed former Pa. Sen. Scott Wagner for Pa. Governor.  I am attaching our endorsement letter.  As a Pa. Senator, Sen. Wagner has a 100% pro-life record.  He has committed, as Governor, to sign pro-life legislation, including the defunding of PP.

Please contact David Haas (814-515-8894; dave@redtalonstrategies.com) who is the Pro-Life Outreach Director for this campaign and learn how to assist Scott Wagner's campaign in your area.  This assistance includes the distribution of the Pa. Pro-Life Federation's Pro-Life Voter's Guide for the November 6, 2018 General Election, which also supports Lou Barletta over Bob Casey, Jr. for U.S. Senate, and addresses all the U.S. House, Pa. Senate and Pa. House races in Pa.  In Southeast Pa., please contact me if you are willing to assist in distributing these Voter Guides at pro-life Churches.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading this email and its enclosures.  I look forward to your participation in these upcoming activities.

Best wishes,
