Nationwide polling recently indicated that "53.3 percent support defunding Planned Parenthood, while 31.5 percent oppose it" (PRNewsWire, 12/2/15). As per Representative Jim Bridenstine of Oklahoma,
"Congress can and should defund Planned Parenthood in the pending 'Omnibus' spending bill....It’s a question of will and commitment to principle....Obama and the Democrats are willing to shut down the government to keep taxpayer money flowing into Planned Parenthood. Republicans should remember that we have the majority in both chambers."With many defenders of human life and marriage/family taking their eyes off the ball, Planned Parenthood may very well receive votes for continued funding tomorrow from many who identify themselves as "pro life"! The Texas GOP has issued a resolution:
"....all federal elected officials should act and vote to fully defund Planned Parenthood at every opportunity. Specifically, this means those federally elected officials should not support any funding resolution – an appropriations bill, an omnibus package, a continuing resolution, or otherwise – that contains any funding for Planned Parenthood, including mandatory funding streams....
"any course of action which deviates from the prescribed moral position stated above is hereby disavowed...as it blatantly violates...the natural rights of those humans subject to these abhorent procedures."
Tell our elected officials to keep Planned Parenthood out of the budget and to co-sponsor/ support pro life and pro marriage/family positions on legislation, advocated by the USCCB/NCHLA (1, 2) and the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference....
- Email Fitzpatrick, Casey, and Toomey, asking for co-sponsorship/support of the Health Care Conscience Rights Act (HR 940), the Women's Public Health and Safety Act (HR 3495), the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act (HR 7), the State Marriage Defense Act (HR 824 / S 435), the First Amendment Defense Act (HR 2802 / S 1598), and the Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act (HR 1299 / S 667), as well as for all federal funding of Planned Parenthood to stop.
- Email all of Bucks County's representatives and senators in Harrisburg, asking for co-sponsorship/ support of the Whole Woman's Health Funding Priorities Act (Pa House Bill 1623), as well as for all state funding of Planned Parenthood to stop. Ask for opposition to "doctor prescribed suicide" and Pa House Bill 1510/Senate Bill 974, which the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference calls "intolerant and prejudiced against people of faith."
While
the world may try to tell us otherwise, Christ and His Church tell us
that human life and marriage/family are of inestimable value!"
