• The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom has identified the 28 worst countries (16 on Tier 1; 12 on Tier 2) for religious freedom, as well as 5 other entities. Identified on its Tier 1 list are Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Central African Republic (CAR), Nigeria, Russia, Syria, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. Identified on its "Tier 2 list are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cuba, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, and Turkey. The five entities...include the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the Taliban in Afghanistan, al-Shabab in Somalia, and new to the list this year, the Houthis in Yemen and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Syria" (United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, 4/29/19).

  • In the U.S. Senate, Robert Casey is a cosponsor of the so-called Equality Act (S.788), as are Booker and Menendez from New Jersey!

A similar bill, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, or ENDA, passed the Senate in 2013. Four currently serving Republican senators voted in favor of that bill: Sens.   While Pennsylvania should be proud that Rep Mike Kelly is the primary sponsor of the Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act in the House (HR 897), only two fellow Pennsylvanians (i.e., Schmucker and Reschenthaler) and one New Jersey representative (i.e., Smith) are joining him! No one from Pa or Jersey is a co-sponsor of S 274 in the Senate!
