The Holy Spirit selected fabulous saint martyrs to stand witness during "Pride Month."
As I understand it, Charles and his companions ranged in age from 13 to 30 and resisted the homosexual advances of the king. In their cases, it is misleading to infer that the king's sin was just threatened pedophilia, as it would have also included threatened ebophilia, and the threatened homosexual rape of adult men.
James Martin SJ uses this slight of hand that might very well make Theodore McCarrick and certain U.S. bishops smile.
No matter what gets inferred without the rebuke of bishops and other priests, there is no such thing as a "consent" to homosexual sex, as it is always sinful.
