Yesterday Was National Coming Out Day Many who identify as LGBTQ+ recognized yesterday as National Coming Out Day. You may be familiar with "coming out" as a term that refers to someone announcing that they identify as gay. For tips on how to handle that conversation as a Christian, check out this video. "Coming out" has also recently been used in reference to someone announcing that they identify as transgender. This is a critical battle in our cultural moment. Today's children are taught to question their own biology on social media, in school, and even in the doctor's office. And when they are questioning it, they are told that identifying as transgender and "transitioning" to live as the opposite sex is the solution. Yesterday, some "came out" because they have been sold a lie about their bodies. Culture has told them that they were born in the wrong body, that they need to consider sterilization and mutilating surgery in order to be who they were meant to be. As Christians, we know that is not true. God created us male and female (Genesis 1:27) and we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). When God made you male or female, he did not make a mistake. Not only is transgender ideology rooted in a lie, but it also has very real and damaging consequences for those who are sold its "solutions." From sterilization to regret and worsened mental health, many of those who today have "come out" identifying as transgender will face serious harm because they were sold a bill of goods. We know you care deeply about this issue, and you want to make a difference to protect children and take back culture. That's why we're inviting you to join us THIS FRIDAY, October 15th, for the Help Not Harm Summit. We believe that children who are struggling deserve Help, Not Harm – and we know you agree. Pray for those who are affected, that they may see truth and hope. Pray for children who may be exposed to radical content (at school or in other ways), that their minds would be protected. And – ask the Lord how you might be able to play a part in bringing the change our culture needs. We hope to see many of you on Friday as we consider how we can do just that!
