"'by the company that he or she keeps"

As per the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference, "On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, Pennsylvanians will elect candidates to represent their political parties in contests for mayor, city council, county commissioner, township supervisor, school board, and many other municipal positions....The challenge with municipal and judicial elections is finding information about the candidates on which to base your voting decision....We can understand a lot about candidates by reviewing their lists of endorsements....It is said a person is known 'by the company that he or she keeps'....We have a responsibility to elect local leaders and judges who will be fair and responsible, and will uphold the values that make Pennsylvania great" (Judicial and Local Elections Just Days Away!, 5/13/15).  Along those lines, voters have good reason to be concerned about candidates being endorsed by Chuck McIlhinney

FLASHBACK: When he ran for re-election one year ago, there was a prime opportunity to look at the then recent record of State Senator Charles McIlhinney on life and marriage/family issues (cf, Candidates for the Pennsylvania Senate from Bucks, 5/3/14):

  • "McIlhinney voted with the Pa Catholic Conf position on HB 818.
  • "McIlhinney against the Pa Catholic Conf position on the Schwank Amendment to HB 818.
  • "McIlhinney voted against the Pa Catholic Conf position on the Vance Amendment to HB 818....
  • "McIlhinney is a co-sponsor of SB 300, which the Pa Catholic Conf calls 'intolerant and prejudiced against people of faith'....
  • "Planned Parenthood previously identified McIlhinney as one of their 'pro-choice endorsed candidates.'"
Though his track record on supporting Catholic positions on life and marriage/family is awful, McIlhinney is believed to identify himself as a Catholic.  Voters should be alert that McIlhinney has endorsed these candidates:
  • Newtown Township: Kyle Davis for Newtown Township Supervisor.
  • Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, Upper Makefield and Wrightstown: Mick Petrucci for District Justice
