- Even though Dr Isajiw is the lone NFP-only physician in the directory of the Mercy Health System of Southeast Pa, Mercy claims to provide "Women's Health Services" (See 1). How?
- No NFP-only physician can presently be found in the directory of St. Mary Medical Center, but St Mary claims to provide "Women's Health Services" (See 1). St. Mary's also includes three
specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine (See 1, 2, and 3), each of whom is an "Abington Perinatal Associate" (See 1a, 2a, and 3a.). A 4th Abington Perinatal Associate has been reported to be involved with fetal
"reduction" (See 1, 2,
and 3.).
- Dr Ruberu is an NFP-only physician found in the directory of Holy Redeemer. Great, but that directory also includes 6 physicans (i.e., 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) from Reproductive Medicine Associates of Philadelphia or Abington Reproductive Medicine, which together offer a smorgasbord of morally excluded services, such as egg/embryo/sperm "donation," IVF, and "surrogacy."
In this blogger's opinion, neither Saint Mary's Advanced Directives and Living Wills nor Holy Redeemer's Making Your Own Health Care Decisions clearly specify Catholic teaching with regard to nutrition and hydration, and that health care services cannot honor advance directives (e.g., non-specific directives to forego nutrition and hydration) opposed to Catholic teaching.
Call me cynical, but exorbitant CEO salaries would strike me as a powerful motivator for maintaining the status quo. As the character Che sarcastically proclaimed in Evita, "When the money keeps rolling in, you don't ask how."
- Michael B. Laign is President/CEO of Holy Redeemer. For 2013, Laign is reported to have received $816,283 in total compensation.
- Dan Moen is Interim President and CEO of St Mary Medical Center. For 2013, Moen's predecessor, Greg Wozniak, is reported to have received $775,260 in total compensation.
- Susan Croushore is the [Interim/] President and CEO of Mercy Health System. For 2013, Croushore's predecessor, David H. Clark, is reported to have received $1,524,810 in total compensation.
