Made for Love Podcast

Last month's Made for Love explored the four temperaments and sacred music. The Four Temperaments Do you know the four temperaments? Which one are you? Today we focus on the temperaments and marriage. Some temperament matches are going to be “easier” than others, but no matter what temperaments you and your spouse have, you can still help each other get to heaven! This episode features Art and Laraine Bennett, the authors of The Temperament God Gave You (and others), Nick and Lucy van Schaijik, and Brady and Sarah Wilson. The Power of Music Do you have a favorite hymn? Do your kids settle down at Mass when they hear the music? On this episode, Bishop Berg of Pueblo, CO and Archbishop Sample of Portland, OR talk about the power of music to raise the soul to contemplate God. In August, Made for Love will look at the Catholic family on vacation, and, if Sara finishes in time, an episode about welcoming multiples (twins and triplets).

Legal/ Policy Updates Passing Judgment - After being notably grilled by Democratic senators in late 2018 on account of his being a member of the Knights of Columbus, Brian Buescher of Nebraska was finally confirmed to a federal judgeship on July 24th. North Carolina’s governor surrendered the state’s long-controversial bathroom laws and entered into a consent decree in Carcaño v. Cooper on July 23rd to allow “transgender” people to use the restrooms of their choice. New Hampshire– In July, New Hampshire passed a law allowing for gender “X” on driver’s licenses, and Maryland’s Board of Elections movedto do the same on its voter registration cards. A Minnesota mother, Anmarie Calgaro, appealed to the US Supreme Court on July 24th after losing a suit against her local government for legally emancipating her son at age 15 to pursue “gender transition” medical procedures. Indiana – On July 10, a day after initially agreeing to settle, Joshua Payne-Elliott sued the Archdiocese of Indianapolis over Cathedral High School’s termination of his teacher contract for being in a same-sex 'marriage' with another teacher-- whose retention at Brebeuf Jesuit Prepatory School led to the revocation of the latter’s “Catholic” status by the Archbishop of Indianapolis.
