So, there REALLY will be a Judgment Day???

  • 42nd Anniversary of Pastoral on People with Disabilities (11/18/2020)
  • While 220,000+ deaths are regularly cited, might this be grossly misleading?  As per the CDC itself, "For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death."  In other words, only approximately 13,242 deaths can be attributed SOLELY to COVID-19, across the U.S., since the start of the "pandemic."  Yet religious restrictions remain popular with the governors of NJ and Pa.
    • "Indoor gatherings for religious and political activities protected under the First Amendment must be limited to 150 people or 25% of a room's capacity -- whichever number is lower" (State of NJ, 11/17/2020).
    • "In response to rising [sic] COVID-19 cases in Philadelphia, the City and Department of Public Health have announced changes to restrictions on businesses, events and gatherings, and other activities to help flatten the epidemic curve, prevent hospitals from becoming overwhelmed, and reduce the number of COVID-19 deaths.... Changes to events and gatherings include: All indoor gatherings and events involving people from more than one household are prohibited, in public or private spaces. This includes private events such as weddings and showers, listed as 'celebrations' in previous guidance, as well as funerals. Religious institutions are permitted to have people indoors, but density must be capped at 5 people per 1,000 sq. ft. or 5 percent of maximum occupancy. Outdoor gatherings and events are limited to 10 percent of maximum capacity of the space, or 10 people per 1,000 sq. ft. for venues with an undefined maximum capacity—not to exceed 2,000 people in any outdoor space. In addition, all individuals at outdoor gatherings must wear masks at all times, and—to reinforce mask use—neither food nor beverages may be served" (City of Phi;ladelphia, 11/16/2020).
  • Justice Alito Says Opposing Same-Sex Marriage Is 'Considered Bigotry' (11/14/2020)
  • Critics Say McCarrick Report Evades Issue of Pervasive Homosexuality in Catholic Clergy (National Catholic Register, 11/14/2020)
    • "with all due respect to those good priests who are homosexual but chastely so, the presence of such a critical mass of homosexuals in the clergy has created a large subculture of sexually active gay priests who cover for each other and whose epicurean lifestyle is a scandal....the concrete actions taken with regard to McCarrick in particular, and the entire sexual abuse issue in general, tells us that many (most?) of our priests and bishops are de facto atheists....most lay people in the American Church today are also de facto atheists who, therefore, swim in the same cultural soup of cultivated spiritual mediocrity.... The [Second Vatican] Council overestimated the vitality of the Church’s faith life – – an overestimation that is proven by the fact that that same Church came unraveled immediately after the Council – – and underestimated the toxic nature of modernity for any kind of genuine faith.... there are, of course, still pockets of holiness and true belief in the Church” (Larry Chapp, 11/11/2020
