Subject: Your Congressman Failed to Represent You
To:
|
Yesterday, your Member of Congress voted for providing special protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Under the cloak of night, your Representative voted in favor of Rep. Sean Maloney's LGBT amendment to the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017 (H.R. 5055), affirming President Obama's Executive Order, which elevates the liberal agenda and can be used to strip federal contractors of their ability to make hiring decisions consistent with their faith. The application of President Obama's Executive Order could punish faith-based contractors and push them out of doing business with the federal government, which ultimately means a loss of jobs and services for the American people. Faith-based organizations should not be forced to choose between operating consistent with their faith or working with the federal government. In the land of the free and the home of the brave, the freedom to believe should be encouraged, not punished by the federal government. When Members of Congress do not represent you, and protect the freedom to believe and operate in accordance with those beliefs, it is important that they hear from you. The Maloney Amendment was an unfair and unnecessary amendment, and your representative voted for it. While the LGBT amendment passed, the underlying bill failed. However, your Congressman is on record for favoring the elevation of legal rights for sexual orientation and gender identity. Call and let your Representative know that you're not happy with the vote to affirm President Obama's special protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity. They need to hear that you oppose any similar amendment on future government spending bills! You can do so by calling (202) 224-3121or sending an email. Follow this link to tell your Representative they failed to represent you Sincerely,David Christensen Vice President for Government Affairs P.S. |
