Holy See Defends Unborn Children at World Humanitarian Summit
Dear Colleague,

Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin spoke to delegates at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul this week and reminded them there is no international right to abortion, a fight the Holy See has led at the UN for more than twenty years. The Holy See is to be congratulated for this important stand and for their ongoing support for the unborn child and the family. Susan Yoshihara, who has been following the World Humanitarian Summit for months reports.

At the same time the Vatican was holding strong on abortion at the World Humanitarian Summit, formerly Catholic Ireland has started to crumble. The Irish government has come under pressure in a process called the Universal Periodic Review to change its laws on abortion. In the past Ireland has resisted. This year, they said they would consider it. Rebecca Oas has studied the UPR for a few years. She reports.

At Turtle Bay and Beyond Rebecca Oas continues her multipart series on "unwantedness" and "unmet need". Rebecca is simply amazing. One of the great unsung heroes of the pro-life world.

Yours sincerely,

Austin Ruse
President

NEW YORK, May 27 (C-Fam) As one of the few European countries with strong laws protecting unborn children, Ireland has come under repeated attack from international institutions such as the United Nations and the European Court of Human Rights. Ireland's constitution remains pro-life—but in the wake of the latest barrage of criticism, there are signs that the country's resolve may be weakening. Read more >>

The Pursuit of the Unwanted, part 7
