- "The response in Congress has been nearly deafening silence....The language we selected was identical to language adopted in 2006. Two hundred and thirty eight members [sic] of congress voted for that language in 2006, but...today we only have fifty-eight co-sponsors for the traditional definition of marriage....Two hundred and thirty six to fifty-eight. One could surmise we are losing ground here and yes much of the political class in Washington has sat quietly by....The battle, remember, is won by those who are engaged and not by those sitting on the sidelines....Until we engage and demand every member of Congress stand for marriage, stand for families, stand for our children['s], they will not engage on our side" (Congressman Tim Huelskamp, March for Marriage, 6/19/14).
In addition to HJ Res 51, the USCCB has endorsed the Marriage and Religious Freedom Act (HR 3133) and the State Marriage Defense Act (HR 3829). How has Pennsylvania's representation been responding?
Bravo Representatives Mike Kelly, Joe Pitts, Keith Rothfus, and Bill Shuster! Bravo Bravissimo!
